Most people find Think GG after weeks of searching. They have been reading ingredient labels in supermarkets, trying to work out whether the seasoning in a bottle of teriyaki is alcoholic, or ringing round wholesalers who stock Japanese food but cannot say a word about certification. Velo Business Park sits just off Stockport Road, the main artery running from Ardwick down through Longsight and Levenshulme. Coming from the city centre it is roughly ten minutes by car. Coming off the M60, leave at Junction 24 and follow the A57 and A6 in. Buses along Stockport Road stop within a short walk, and Levenshulme rail station is the nearest train stop.

What is on the shelves
Around two hundred lines across twelve categories. The halal-certified own-brand ranges are the reason most people come, but Think GG is a full Japanese and seafood supplier, not a single-shelf novelty.
Omakase by Cupid
Halal-certified frozen gyoza, karaage, yakitori, bao buns and spring rolls. Exclusive to Think GG in the UK.
Halal sauce range
Teriyaki, yakitori, hoisin, gochujang and an alcohol-free sweet seasoning that replaces mirin.
Sushi toppings
Sweet prawn, arctic surfclam, squid slice, crab stick and masago, including a plant-based version.
Dry goods
Panko, sushi ginger, wasabi powder, sesame, pickled mooli and bamboo leaves in catering sizes.

What halal certified means at Think GG
We are careful with this word because a lot of suppliers are not. Two ranges carry full halal certification: the Omakase by Cupid frozen range and the halal sauce range. Both are our own imports, brought in directly from the manufacturers who hold the certification, and Think GG was the first company in the United Kingdom to bring an authorised halal-certified Japanese sauce range into the country.
Across the other categories, including sushi toppings, dry goods and seafood, Think GG sources halal wherever it is possible to do so. We will tell you plainly which is which. If you want the paperwork on a certified line before committing to a case, ask and we will send it.

Your first visit
Bring a cool bag
A large share of the stock is frozen. Longsight to most of Greater Manchester is a short drive, but a cool bag or box makes the trip home safer, especially in summer.
Come with a list, leave with more
The dry goods aisle catches people out. You arrive for gyoza and remember halfway round that you have been buying overpriced panko in small bags when a ten kilo sack costs a fraction per kilo.

Common questions
Do I need a trade account to shop at Think GG?
No. Walk-in retail customers are welcome and can buy single packs. A trade account is only worth opening if you want case pricing, delivery and repeat ordering as a business.
Is there a minimum spend for walk-in customers?
There is no minimum for retail shoppers at the Longsight depot. Buy one bottle of sauce or one bag of gyoza if that is all you need.
Can I see halal certificates before I buy?
Yes. Certificates for the Omakase by Cupid range and the halal sauce range are available on request, in the depot or by email before you place a wholesale order.
Do you deliver, or is it collection only?

Is everything in the shop halal certified?
The Omakase by Cupid range and the halal sauce range are fully certified. In other categories Think GG sources halal wherever possible and will tell you the status of any individual line if you ask.
